Transition from
Soldier to Ex-Serviceman
The transition from military service to civilian life is a milestone. To maintain a young and combat-ready Armed Forces, soldiers, sailors and airmen generally retire between 35 and 50 years of age, returning to society with skills in leadership, administration, engineering, logistics, disaster management, healthcare and technical trades.
While veterans remain capable of contributing to nation-building, they often require support in post-retirement documentation, pensions, healthcare, re-employment and access to welfare schemes.
The Rajya Sainik Board, through its network of Zilla Sainik Boards, facilitates this transition by providing welfare services, grievance redressal, employment assistance, documentation support and coordination with Central and State Government departments.
A soldier’s service does not end with retirement, it continues through a new chapter of service to society, supported by government, industry, communities and citizens.
